Where to Stay: Orlando or Kissimmee?

International Drive / Universal Studios Area

Kissimmee's Old Town

International Drive a.k.a. I-Drive is a favorite Orlando Florida visitor destination, and my suggestion for families with teens or young children that prefer not to stay on a Disney or Universal property.  Why?  Well for starters I-Drive is the home of one of my favorite water parks, Wet'nWild and is less than 5 minutes from Discovery Cove, Sea World, City Walk, Universal Studios Orlando, and Islands of Adventure . . . less than 20 minutes from both Disney and the Orlando International Airport.  Further there are . . .

  • 100 Budget and luxury hotels / resorts to choose from

  • 200 Restaurants

  • 500 Shopping Outlets

  • and a multitude of attractions for all ages

Things to See and Do in Orlando and Central Florida

Wishes™ Night-time Spectacular Fireworks.  Occurs nightly at Disney's Magic Kingdom and can be seen from many Disney Resorts.  Be sure to see EPCOT IllumiNations and MGM's Fantasmic, a visitor favorite.

Rent Sea Doos, power boats, canoes, sailboats, and houseboats.

Try water skiing, knee boarding, scurfing, wakeboarding and more.

Space Shuttle and Rocket launches can be seen from East Orlando, but if you want to view a spectacular site, hear the roar of powerful engines and feel the ground shake then be sure to book a spot at the Kennedy Space Center public viewing area.

Florida Wildlife can be viewed at nature attractions such as Gatorland, or while riding through the Central Florida Everglades in an Airboat.  There is an abundance of wildlife in Orlando lakes, rivers, and even alongside many roads.

Cocoa Beach is only 45 minutes from Orlando.  Ride the surf at Cocoa.

Daytona Beach is 1-1/2 hours from Orlando.  Cruise down the Daytona coast.

Fantastic dining can be found throughout Orlando, Florida.  Visitor favorites include Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville at Universal's City Walk, Bahama Breeze and Houlihan's on I-Drive.
